Charlie Croker is a fictional character from the film The Italian Job. The role was played by Michael Caine in the 1969 film, and by Mark Wahlberg in the 2003 remake. In both films, Croker led a group of thieves to steal a lorry load of gold. The character is named after a carpenter, Charlie Croker from Somerset, England, who was working at Pinewood Studios during the making of the original film.
In the 1969 film, the gang were stealing the gold in Turin and had three classic Mini Coopers to help them escape.
In the 2003 film, they were stealing the gold back from double-crossing Steve Frazelli (Edward Norton) in Los Angeles, and they had three BMW MINI Coopers to help them escape.
